Kultur Hackathon COD1DING DA V1NC1 2022
The Stadtmuseum Hornmoldhaus submitted ten digital data sets of Japanese cross-rolls from its own collection to the Kultur Hackathon 2022 in Baden-Württemberg. Several teams from universities and colleges in Tübingen, Stuttgart, Furtwangen, Leipzig, Würzburg and Heidelberg chose our topics and several digital applications were developed, which were made available on our website under Mediathek and in our permanent exhibition in May 2023. These include a VR goggles application that can be used as part of guided tours.
Door Opener Day – Sendung mit der Maus
In the years 2013-2019, the Hornmoldhaus Stadtmuseum took part in the “Door Opener Day” organized nationwide by the “Sendung mit der Maus” team. (The Sendung mit der Maus is a longrunning children’s TV show.) Around 100 children and adults took part and found out how a museum works behind doors that are otherwise closed to visitors.
Narrow ribbon weaving with weavers from the Ivory Coast
From July 24-27, 2009, a special workshop took place at the Hornmoldhaus Stadtmuseum. Two weavers from the Ivory Coast, Ibrahima Coulibaly and Koko Fofana, expertly instructed the participants on traditional narrow-band looms.
It was no problem for the experienced weavers to get started straight away and produce individual pattern strips. But even beginners quickly got to grips with the treadle loom technique and were able to produce respectable results by the end of the course.
The looms were set up in the town hall courtyard behind the museum, so that many bypassers were attracted by the activities of the weavers and also enjoyed looking at the textiles brought by the weavers from their home country.
The course was part of the special exhibition “Brettchenweben”.
